Word2MD.net provides a browser-based DOCX-to-Markdown converter and a separate server-based OCR converter for supported documents, PDFs, and images. The service includes:

• Local browser processing for standard .docx conversion
• Basic batch processing for up to 100 .docx files per session
• Optional server OCR for supported .docx, PDF, and image files
• Support for files up to 50MB each
• No registration required for basic conversion; OCR and paid features require an account and available quota
• Modern conversion using Mammoth.js and Turndown

The service is provided "as is" without any warranties.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Ensuring you have the right to convert the documents you process
• Not processing malicious, inappropriate, or copyrighted content without permission
• Respecting intellectual property rights and applicable laws
• Understanding that batch processing is limited to 100 files per session
• Ensuring individual files do not exceed the 50MB size limit
• Using only formats accepted by the selected converter; legacy .doc files must first be saved as .docx
• Using a modern browser (Chrome 60+, Firefox 55+, Safari 12+, Edge 79+)

4. Prohibited Uses

You may not use our service to:

• Process copyrighted material without proper authorization
• Convert documents containing malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise our service
• Exceed the technical limitations (50MB per file, 100 files per batch)
• Use automated scripts to overwhelm our service
• Process content for illegal activities or purposes
• Attempt to extract or misuse our AI processing capabilities

5. Service Availability and Technical Limitations

Basic conversion operates in your browser. Optional OCR depends on our server and OCR provider. Service availability depends on:

• Your browser compatibility and internet connection for loading the application
• Your device's processing power for handling conversions locally
• Server, account, quota, and provider availability when using OCR
• Technical limitations: 50MB maximum file size, 100 files per batch session
• Modern browser requirements (Chrome 60+, Firefox 55+, Safari 12+, Edge 79+)

We may update or temporarily interrupt the service for improvements, maintenance, provider changes, or security patches.

6. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. We are not responsible for:

• Any damages arising from the use of our conversion service
• Loss of data due to browser crashes or technical issues
• Conversion accuracy issues with complex or corrupted documents
• Performance issues related to large file processing
• Compatibility issues with unsupported browsers or devices
• Any consequences of AI-generated content or image descriptions

Basic conversion stays under your browser's control. OCR content is transmitted when you explicitly use the server-based workflow.

7. Privacy and Data Security

Your privacy is paramount to us:

• Standard .docx conversion happens locally in your browser
• Files selected in the OCR converter are transmitted for temporary server and provider processing
• Basic conversion needs no account; OCR and paid features may require one
• Do not submit sensitive files to OCR unless you are authorized to upload them
• We may collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the service
