• Optional OCR Converter: Files submitted to the image/OCR tool are uploaded to our server and OCR provider for processing
• Analytics and Advertising: Google services may process page views, approximate location, IP addresses, cookies, device identifiers, and ad interactions as described below
• Technical Data: Standard web server logs (IP addresses, browser type) for security and performance monitoring

Choose the basic converter when a document must remain on your device. Do not use the optional OCR workflow for files you are not authorized to upload.

2. How We Use Your Information

The basic converter processes documents locally. The optional OCR service processes uploaded files only to return the requested conversion:

• Service Delivery: Providing the web application and conversion tools
• Performance Monitoring: Ensuring optimal loading times and functionality
• Security: Protecting against malicious activities and maintaining service integrity
• Improvements: Understanding usage patterns to enhance features and user experience

We do not use document content for advertising. Basic conversions use browser libraries such as Mammoth.js and Turndown; OCR requests are handled separately.

3. Data Security and Local Processing

Word2MD.net separates local conversion from server-dependent OCR:

• Local Processing: Standard DOCX-to-Markdown conversion happens in your browser
• OCR Processing: Files selected in the image/OCR converter are transmitted for temporary processing
• HTTPS Encryption: All website communications are encrypted using SSL/TLS
• Browser Security: Your documents remain within your browser's secure environment
• Accounts: Basic conversion needs no account; OCR and paid features may require one
• Batch Processing: Handle up to 100 files simultaneously, all processed locally

The upload interface identifies when server processing is required so you can choose the appropriate workflow.

4. Your Rights and Control

With Word2MD.net's privacy-first design, you maintain complete control:

• Access and Deletion: You may ask us to access, correct, or delete account and support data, subject to security, billing, and legal retention requirements
• Document Choice: Use local basic conversion or explicitly choose server OCR based on the sensitivity of your document
• Advertising Choices: You can manage cookies in your browser and use the privacy or ad controls made available by Google and applicable consent tools
• Browser Control: You can clear browser data anytime to remove any local storage
• Opt-out: You can stop using optional OCR, account, analytics, or advertising features and contact us for applicable data-rights requests

The local converter reduces document exposure, but website logs, accounts, analytics, advertising, and optional OCR remain subject to the disclosures in this policy.

5. Data Retention and Storage

Word2MD.net minimizes retention across both processing paths:

• Basic Conversion: Standard DOCX files are not uploaded to our servers
• OCR Conversion: Uploaded files are processed temporarily by our server and OCR provider
• Immediate Cleanup: Document data is cleared from browser memory after conversion
• No Conversion Library: We do not provide a persistent document library or conversion-history feature
• Temporary AI Data: When using AI features, image data is processed temporarily and not stored

Temporary provider handling is subject to operational logging and the provider's retention controls; avoid submitting highly sensitive files to OCR.

6. Information Sharing and Third-Party Services

We maintain strict data protection standards:

• Basic Conversion: Standard DOCX conversion does not transmit the document
• OCR Processing: Files submitted to the image/OCR converter are sent to the configured OCR provider
• No Personal Data Sales: We do not sell, trade, or transfer any personal information
• Service Providers: We may use third parties for hosting, authentication, payment, feedback, analytics, advertising, and OCR processing; each receives only the data needed for its role

All processing libraries (mammoth.js, turndown.js, etc.) run locally in your browser without external data transmission.

7. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

Word2MD.net uses Google AdSense and may use analytics services. Google and its partners may place or read cookies, use web beacons, and process IP addresses, device identifiers, page activity, and ad interactions to serve, measure, personalize, and protect ads.

• We do not use document contents as advertising data or intentionally include names, email addresses, or document text in ad requests
• Advertising cookies and identifiers are separate from the local DOCX conversion process
• Where required by law, we will request consent before enabling non-essential or personalized advertising cookies and provide applicable privacy choices
• You may block or delete cookies through your browser, though this can affect site functionality and ad preferences

8. Technical Specifications

Word2MD.net operates with the following technical privacy features:

• Supported Formats: .docx, .doc files processed locally without server upload
• File Limits: Maximum 50MB per file, 100 files per batch session
• Browser Requirements: Modern browsers (Chrome 60+, Firefox 55+, Safari 12+, Edge 79+)
• Processing Libraries: mammoth.js, turndown.js, and other open-source tools
• AI Features: Optional AI image descriptions with secure, temporary API calls
